Part 3A: Chris Thorsten was an Iron worker, and seems to be a very nice person. When he was working for his occupation, he was caught in between a crane, and got seriously injured. He suffered from broken vertebrae, broken collar bone, and broken ribs. It was so severe, that he was laid off for four years. He sure was a tough man however. He represented the time period, because he was interviewed during the time of the Great Depression, which means that he worked in the United States during that time period.
Anna Novak was a Packing House Worker. She had an education all the way to eighth grade and part of high school, where she attended St. Hedwig's Orphanage. She seems like a stubborn person, but that's only because she couldn't hate her job even more. She would have to buy the foremen gifts for every holiday, because of her occupation. She represented the time period, because she lived during the time period of the Great Depression, and she, too, was living in the United States at that particular time.
Jim Cole was an African- American male who was a butcher for twenty years. He, too, was a Packing House Worker. He seems like a man who had set goals in his life before the Great Depression ruined them, because he wanted to become part of the AFL, but his goal was denied, because he was a negro, and it was a time of terrible racism. He represented the time of the Great depression, because he was interviewed during that time, and he too a part in that time of great debt and lack of currency/ money.
Alice Caudle was a woman who started working as a Mill Worker when she was just ten years old. She seemed to be a very intrigued woman. This is because she wanted to learn how to work the new wool spinning machine, but since she wasn't a white male, she didn't get to experience it. She represented this time period, because she took part in the Great Depression in the United States. She had to suffer from this time period, and I feel terrible for all the people who had to deal with this issue.
Mrs. Mayme Reese is an African- American woman who has four children, and works as a house wife. She seemed to be a very kind person, because she would constantly take care of her children by making quilts for them or even other people. Mrs. Reese represented this time period, because she lived through the days of the Great Depression. In my opinion, out of all of these people, I believe she had the hardest time, because she didn't have a lot of money to pay for her children. Being a house wife doesn't get you any money, so even though she had trouble taking care of them, she definetely showed how much she loved them.
